1L Scholarship Program
At Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, we are committed to fostering a culture of opportunity and inclusion. We believe that by deploying deliberate acts of awareness, commitment, teamwork, and support, we will move the needle of inclusion in our Firm and in our community. As part of this commitment and in an effort to support and provide opportunity to first-year law students, we established the Harter Secrest & Emery LLP 1L Scholarship Program. The Firm awards a 1L law student with a $7,500 scholarship to be applied to their second year’s tuition along with a paid Summer Associate position in the Firm’s Rochester, NY offices. The scholarship is awarded annually to a first-year student based on factors that indicate promise for a successful career in the legal profession, such as their professional accomplishments, academic achievement, and community involvement.
To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must be full-time, currently enrolled 1L law students who are in good standing at an accredited law school. HSE values a workplace culture of opportunity and inclusion and actively fosters a sense of belonging for all HSE team members. Successful candidates will have demonstrated an ability to contribute to and enrich that culture.
Applications for the summer of 2026 are now closed.
