2016 Upstate New York Regional Cybersecurity Forum

Date:
June 14, 2016

HSE Partner and Chair of HSE's Privacy and Data Security Practice F. Paul Greene featured as part of the "Ask the Expert" Panel at the upcoming Upstate New York Regional Cybersecurity Forum.

This event brings together businesses, industry experts, and individuals to discuss one of today’s most critical concerns: how to keep our own and our organization’s data secure. 95% of data breaches are due to human error, and most employees are unaware of just how their actions, no matter how seemingly small, can put themselves and their organization at risk. Even with the best security infrastructure in the world, all it takes is one click, on one wrong link, to compromise critical data and information systems and cost organizations millions of dollars.

The goal of the Upstate New York Regional Cybersecurity Forum is to educate consumers and businesses about actionable steps they can take to protect themselves against cyber threats. Education and awareness are the best tools we have to protect ourselves and our organizations from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. It is critical that employees learn to detect and avoid cyber threats before they cause devastating losses. This forum provides a unique opportunity for representatives from academia, law enforcement, and industry to coordinate on ways to increase cybersecurity awareness and change behavior in order to keep data secure.

Following opening remarks from Logical Operations’ CEO, Bill Rosenthal, a representative from the Secret Service will lead a discussion in cybersecurity best practices and tips for protecting your own or your organization’s data. Attendees will then have the chance to participate in an “Ask the Experts” panel that will include representatives from the Secret Service, RIT’s Golisano College of Computing & Information Science, and more.
