It is estimated that one-half of college and university presidents will leave their positions in the next five year. The appointment of a new leader is perhaps the most important decision made by the Board of Trustees. Too often, however, institutions focus only on the search for candidates and the selection of the successor. To ensure a smooth transition, Boards should develop a detailed plan that begins well before the announcement of the sitting president’s departure and extends even past the inauguration of the new president. This session will offer specific recommendations for the development of such a plan, which will enable the school to implement an effective transition that positions the incoming president and the institution for future success.

About the Series

Harter Secrest & Emery’s Higher Education group is pleased to introduce a new training series designed to provide higher education professionals timely, practical, and concise advice and analysis, as well as recommended actions to mitigate risk and drive strategies. These webinars are intended to be as interactive as attendees make them; you will have access to thought leaders on these topics and we hope you’ll make good use of it. The series will run throughout 2022.
