HSE Privacy and Data Security chair F. Paul Greene and HSE’s Incident Response team lead Dan Altieri will be speaking at an upcoming Financial Executives International Rochester Chapter event, Group Captives: Massive Shifts in the Insurance Marketplace, taking place on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.

Paul and Dan will be leading the pre-CPE session with “Ransomware: What every CFO needs to know in relation to your company’s worst nightmare.”

Session overview: Ransomware attacks have only become more prevalent since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and attackers have upped the ante by not only encrypting files, but also stealing company data to increase their extortion power and support their ransom. To effectively prepare for what is quickly becoming known as an inevitability, it is critical for an organization’s stakeholders to plan ahead of time and discuss matters such as risk mitigation measures, issues pertaining to insurance coverage for cyber incidents and considerations regarding when, how and if an organization should engage in negotiations to pay a demand. Given the expansive roles that CFOs play on a daily basis, these are all often concerns that are passed their way to handle. Our discussion will provide insight into what every CFO should know as they prepare for the prospect of a ransomware attack.
