HSE Immigration attorney Paige Monachino will present an upcoming CLE, “The Future of DACA and What to Expect from the Biden Administration,” taking place on Tuesday, February 23rd.
Event overview: In 2012, the Obama administration adopted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) in order to provide temporary relief to individuals brought to the U.S. as children and facing deportation. Later, the Trump administration tried to eliminate the DACA program. However, that effort was unsuccessful as the Supreme Court ruled against eliminating the program. On January 20, 2021, President Biden signed an executive order to “preserve and fortify” DACA. The President is also expected to extend the program for four years while legislation is passed to create a path to citizenship. This CLE will focus on the DACA application process and will provide an overview of the Biden administration’s future plans for the DACA program.
The CLE is free in exchange for a commitment to volunteer at one Immigration Clinic or one case within one year of the date of this seminar.
