Wright Luke 2018 081 HR PrintBioLuke P. Wright, partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, was recently interviewed in a Rochester Business Journal article regarding the changes to New York’s paid family leave program. In the article titled, “NY’s Paid Family Leave to Include Care for Siblings Starting in 2023,” Luke stated that the paid family leave legislation, in effect since 2018, has worked surprisingly smooth in his view. The current law covers only care for spouses, domestic partners, children, stepchildren, parents, grandparents, and grandchildren with serious health conditions. The new provision, recently signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul, allows employees to take paid leave to care for siblings and will go into effect in 2023.
