Paul Greene, CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, FIP, partner and chair of our Privacy and Data Security practice discusses recent activity in the New York Senate regarding the New York Privacy Act and its similarities (and differences) when compared to the California Consumer Privacy Act in a Rochester Business Journal article. In “California Here We Come: The New York Privacy Act,” Paul states, “If New York does adopt the Act, we will join California as one of the two strongest voices in privacy regulation in the U.S.— voices that will be heard with at least equal force worldwide. In fact, if adopted, the Act may give New York an even stronger voice than California. For example, when comparing jurisdictional scope, the Act has a potentially broader reach, but only just.”
