At the Intersection of Crisis and Opportunity: Strategic Alliances

HSE Senior Higher Education Counsel, Daan Braveman, and Higher Education Partner, Theresa A. Conroy, recently authored an article in University Business titled, “At the Intersection of Crisis and Opportunity: Strategic Alliances.”

Daan and Theresa describe that even before the pandemic, higher education institutions were being challenged by disruptive forces such as demographic changes, the movement toward online education, political pressure for free tuition, and the national narrative questioning the value of a college education. However, they note that many colleges and universities responded to the pandemic by moving beyond their typical silo approach and teamed up to share information and plans (in a manner rarely seen in the past)—and formalize strategic alliances. The article provides insight on meaningful and strategic alliances institutions can explore now to create a new future for the decade and beyond.
