Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that more than 50 adult-use cannabis conditional cultivator licenses had been issued. This milestone was reached exactly one month after the application portal was initially opened for conditional licensing and demonstrates the continued commitment to launching the adult-use cannabis market in New York State. The issuance of these licenses will allow the newly-licensed farmers to begin cultivating cannabis for adult-use.

The conditional cultivator licenses are available only to cultivators who, as of December 31, 2021, held a license to grow cannabinoid hemp and has grown and harvested hemp in two of the past four years. Despite this limitation, Governor Hochul noted that more than 150 applications had been received to date.
