Cannabis Licensing: Cannabinoid Hemp Distributor License

This LEGALcurrents is third in a series of alerts taking a deeper dive into each license available under New York’s Cannabis Law. We have previously covered the Cannabinoid Hemp Retailer License and the Cannabinoid Hemp Processor License. This week, we address another license for which New York is already accepting applications, the Cannabinoid Hemp Distributor License.

Rights Granted: Allows the licensee to sell cannabinoid hemp products manufactured outside of New York State to licensed Cannabinoid Hemp Retailers within New York.

Cannabinoid hemp includes any hemp, or any product processed or derived from hemp, that has a concentration of THC of no more than 0.3%.

Term of License: One year.

License Fee: $300 per distributor location.

Application: The application is currently available through the New York Business Express online portal.

The application requires information about the applicant (e.g., name, EIN, location), the owners of the applicant (e.g., address, social security number) and the applicant’s products and manufacturers.
