Harter Secrest & Emery LLP is proud to announce that HSE partner Peter H. Abdella, leader of the firm’s litigation practice, was named one of the Rochester region’s Attorneys of the Year by The Daily Record.

A litigator who joined the firm in 1987, Abdella maintains a general litigation practice with an emphasis on commercial and construction law. He also assists clients with expertise in the areas of corporate governance, securities law, private and public mechanics’ liens, and commercial landlord-tenant rights and remedies.

“Peter does more than simply handle litigation that arises,” said Michael R. McEvoy, managing partner. “He regularly counsels clients regarding ways to avoid controversy and to be better prepared to minimize risk.”

Abdella was recognized as a “Leader in Law” by Chambers USA, 2015 in the field of Litigation, and was chosen by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© in the fields of Commercial Litigation, Construction Law Litigation – Construction, and Professional Malpractice Law – Defendants. He earned Best Lawyers® recognition as the Rochester area’s “Lawyer of the Year” for Construction Law in 2012 and for Litigation – Construction in 2013, and has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers® from 2007-2015.

A graduate of Colgate University and the University at Buffalo Law School, Peter Abdella is active with several community and civic organizations, including Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and the Upper New York Conference of the United Methodist Church, as well as the Monroe County Republican Committee, the Monroe County Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
