Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices throughout New York, announced that Amanda M. Karpovich, an associate in the firm’s Securities and Capital Markets practice group, has been appointed to the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier (Big Brothers Big Sisters) for a two-year term.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is the largest provider of one-to-one youth mentoring services in the United States. The organization’s mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better. In Western New York, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been matching caring adults with local children for more than 45 years and has impacted the lives of over 11,000 area youth. These quality relationships are built on friendship and trust and have proved to be a significant positive influence in the life of the child, as well as the volunteer. In addition to her role on the board, Karpovich will also serve on the organization’s Women Who Move the City committee and the Auction committee.
Karpovich joined Harter Secrest & Emery in 2016. Her experience includes counseling clients regarding compliance with the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act on 1934, and New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ rules. Karpovich also has experience performing due diligence review, drafting memoranda, and drafting transactional and governance documents. Karpovich is a summa cum laude graduate of both the University at Buffalo and the University at Buffalo Law School.
