Rochester, New York, December 5, 2024 – Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices throughout New York, has recently launched an enhanced version of its Preventing Discrimination and Harassment in the Workplace training program. This on-demand curriculum, available at training.hselaw.com, is a subscription-based program that provides unlimited annual access to employers and complies with New York State and New York City training requirements.
“Workplace dynamics and interactions can be complex, nuanced, and often misunderstood,” said Jeffrey J. Calabrese, leader of the Labor and Employment practice group at Harter Secrest & Emery. “This program is designed to provide employees with practical and actionable advice for fostering a healthy and safe workplace, while also equipping HR professionals with the tools they need to efficiently administer the program.”
The training platform offers a variety of benefits for those administering the program, such as easy employee self-registration, real-time user engagement dashboard and reports, and user evaluation forms.
The program consists of seven chapters that educate users in an easy-to-understand, convenient, and engaging video presentation. The course covers topics such as the definition of sexual harassment, sex stereotyping, hostile work environments, retaliation, supervisor responsibilities, personal liability, bystander intervention, investigation process, and victim resources. The enhanced video presentation builds on the original training platform released by Harter Secrest & Emery in 2022.
The program is presented by Harter Secrest & Emery partner Benjamin E. Mudrick and senior associate Lindsey N. Bober, members of the firm’s Labor & Employment practice. Mudrick and Bober each have extensive experience in helping business executives and Human Resources personnel navigate complex employment issues and counseling clients on all aspects of labor and employment law. They have advocated on behalf of clients in front of federal and state administrative agencies, including the Department of Labor, the New York State Division of Human Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, among others.
New York State law requires that training must be provided to all employees who work, or will work, in New York, including non-exempt employees, part-time workers, seasonal workers, and temporary workers. All employees must complete interactive training annually, and new employees should complete their training “as soon as possible.”
With a run time of just under an hour, the Harter Secrest & Emery interactive training program is designed to be both convenient and affordable for employers of every size. Annual subscription fees range from $375 per year for employers with 49 or fewer employees to $3,000 per year for employers with 300 or more employees.
Harter Secrest & Emery Labor and Employment attorneys counsel employers on state and federal labor law compliance and the soundness and comprehensiveness of employment practices and policies. They represent employers in nearly every industry sector, including retail, health care, professional services, higher education, and manufacturing, in both union and non-union settings.
