Harter Secrest & Emery Appoints Ten Senior Associates

Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices throughout New York, is pleased to announce that ten attorneys have been promoted to Senior Associate.

Adam W. Braveman practices in the Harter Secrest & Emery Litigation practice group. He has significant experience in complex commercial civil litigation and represents both individuals and entities in connection with internal and government investigations. He represents clients works on intellectual property litigation, contract disputes, trade secret and copyright matters, unfair competition claims, and securities litigation, as well as SEC and DOJ investigations. Braveman is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Rochester and earned his law degree, with honors, from the George Washington University Law School.

John P. Bringewatt is a member of the Government and Internal Investigations practice group. His experience includes representing corporations and individuals in criminal, civil, and administrative investigations, including investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Office of the New York Attorney General. In addition, he assists clients in conducting internal investigations and in preparing self-disclosures to law enforcement and administrative agencies, and he represents clients in complex civil litigation. Bringewatt is a magna cum laude graduate of Colgate University and the University of Michigan Law School.

Alfred Y. Chu is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group where he counsels clients on patent preparation, prosecution, and post-grant review proceedings. He has significant experience in the fields of broadband technology, telecommunication systems, medical devices, computer hardware/software, signal processing, computer networks and virtual machines, imaging technology, e-commerce, and virtual reality systems and devices. Chu earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine before graduating from the University of Akron School of Law.

Gregory M. Dickinson practices in Harter Secrest & Emery’s Litigation practice group, where his practice includes commercial and employment litigation, government and internal investigations, and privacy and data security matters. He counsels businesses and not-for-profit entities on a wide range of commercial disputes, advises clients regarding cyber security compliance and data breach response, and defends organizations and individuals under investigation by the state and federal government. A summa cum laude graduate of Houghton College, Dickinson earned his law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School.

Lucrecia Z. Knapp is a member of the firm’s Immigration practice group. She assists companies, universities, and medical institutions in seeking immigrant and nonimmigrant status for employees in the fields of oil and gas, finance, the sciences, health care, athletics, and the arts to name a few. She has significant experience assisting clients with Permanent Residence petitions, L petitions, E Visa applications, O-1 petitions, H-1B petitions, TN applications, J-1 waivers, I-9 compliance, and family-based petitions for permanent residence. Knapp is a graduate of Queens College and she earned her law degree from Brooklyn Law School.

Lauren R. Mendolera practices in Harter Secrest & Emery’s Litigation practice group, where she focuses her practice on insurance law and insurance-coverage litigation. She also has experience with commercial, intellectual property, securities, antitrust, employment, housing, and criminal litigation matters. A summa cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Mendolera received her law degree, cum laude, from New York University Law School.

Andrew M. Nason is a member of Harter Secrest & Emery’s Litigation practice group. His practice focuses on commercial and intellectual-property litigation, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade-secret law. In particular, he has significant experience in patent litigation involving pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He has represented clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the International Trade Commission. Nason received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester, and received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

Sarah A. Pellerin practices in the firm’s Real Estate practice group. She assists clients in the drafting and review of commercial real estate purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, and other agreements relating to real property and real property transactions. She also represents clients involved in obtaining land use approvals during the planning and development of commercial projects, including approvals required under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). Pellerin is a summa cum laude graduate of the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, and earned her law degree, cum laude, from Albany Law School.

Jodi Reynolds practices in Harter Secrest & Emery’s Intellectual Property practice group, where she helps clients attain, protect, and monetize patents, trademarks, and copyrights. She regularly counsels clients through the patent prosecution process, drafting patentability, infringement, and invalidity opinions, and also guides clients through the registration process with regard to trademarks and copyrights. Reynolds drafts and negotiates license agreements and other contracts involving intellectual property issues, and counsels Internet Service Providers and other companies with respect to e-commerce, including copyright infringement, privacy and security issues. A graduate of the University of Rochester, Reynolds earned her law degree, cum laude, from the University at Buffalo Law School.

Edward H. Townsend is a member of Harter Secrest & Emery’s Health Care practice group. He advises hospitals, health care providers, facilities, and organizations in connection with operational, compliance and governance matters, including corporate compliance, HIPAA, fraud and abuse, professional licensure and misconduct issues, the implementation of internal compliance programs, patient-related issues, medical staff issues, and psychiatric commitment issues. Townsend graduated from Trinity College, and earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law.
