Harter Secrest & Emery Attorneys Named ‘Lawyer of the Year’ by Best Lawyers in America 2018

Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices throughout New York, announced that seven of the firm’s attorneys in Rochester and Buffalo have been named “Lawyer of the Year” in their practice area by The Best Lawyers in America© 2018.

Joshua E. Gewolb was honored as the Rochester “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Tax Law. A member of the firm’s Tax Law practice group, Gewolb has experience with a wide range of federal and state tax matters, and assists both closely-held and publicly traded businesses with corporate transactions, including asset and stock acquisitions, reorganizations, and spin-offs. He maintains an active practice advising not-for-profit entities, including colleges and universities, foundations, and trade associations, on tax and corporate matters. He is a frequent speaker on topics related to taxation.

Paul W. Holloway was honored as the Rochester “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law. Practice group leader of Harter Secrest & Emery’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice, Holloway has extensive experience designing and drafting employee benefit programs and administrative packages for both business corporations and not-for-profit organizations. He was previously honored by Best Lawyers® as “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law in 2013, and has been selected to the Upstate New York Super Lawyers list each year since 2007. William A. Hoy IV was honored as the Rochester “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Corporate Law. Hoy leads Harter Secrest & Emery’s Private Equity and Venture Capital practice group. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and general corporate matters, with particular emphasis on the representation of private equity and venture capital funds. He has been recognized in Chambers USA 2017 America’s Leading Lawyers in Business, and has been selected to the Upstate New York Super Lawyers list each year since 2012.

James M. Jenkins was honored as the Rochester “Lawyer of the Year: in the area of Corporate Governance Law. He is the leader of Harter Secrest & Emery’s Securities practice area. Jenkins represents clients in corporate governance and general corporate law and securities law matters, including initial and secondary public offerings, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law compliance. Jenkins continues to serve as general counsel to a number of publicly traded and private equity-backed companies. He was previously honored by Best Lawyers® as “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Corporate Law in 2016, and has been has been recognized in Chambers USA 2017 America’s Leading Lawyers in Business. Anthony D. Mancinelli was honored as the Buffalo “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Banking and Finance Law. He has practiced for more than 30 years, concentrating in all areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and private and public finance.
