Harter Secrest & Emery Elects McClean, Sewruk, and Dorritie to Partnership

The law firm of Harter Secrest & Emery LLP is pleased to announce that Alexander R. McClean, Julia Green Sewruk and Megan K. Dorritie have been named partners of the firm. 

Alexander R. McClean concentrates his practice in the areas of securities regulation, capital markets, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and general business and corporate matters. He has broad experience counseling public companies, investment banks and financial services companies regarding compliance with the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, NYSE and NASDAQ rules, FINRA regulations and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Alex also advises start-up and high growth private companies in all types of private placements of securities and crowdfunding transactions. He has extensive experience representing companies in a variety of industries, including banking, financial services, software, biotechnology, health care, manufacturing and retail. A cum laude graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Alex received his MBA from the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management and B.S. from Brigham Young University. He resides in Pittsford, NY with his wife and three children.

Julia Green Sewruk concentrates her practice in higher education and labor and employment law. She regularly counsels a variety of clients-such as higher education institutions, large and small corporations, municipalities, and individuals-on legal compliance, litigation, and dispute resolution. Julia also has significant experience advising the firm’s higher education clients on Title IX compliance, including conducting investigations, developing policies and processes, and delivering required training. She is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and received her B.A., cum laude, from Wellesley College. Julia resides in Rochester, NY with her son.

Megan K. Dorritie is a litigation partner who maintains a commercial litigation practice with a concentration in the area of real estate taxation and valuation. She has comprehensive experience appearing in federal and state courts, handling cases involving real estate tax assessment challenges, eminent domain proceedings, business disputes, including breach of contract, tort and unfair competition, products liability defense, and land use and zoning. Megan clerked for the Honorable Michael A. Telesca, United States District Court Judge for the Western District of New York. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from SUNY Buffalo Law School, and B.A., magna cum laude, from Hartwick College. Megan resides in Penfield, NY with her husband, daughter, son, two mutts, one cat, and one tortoise.
