Rochester, New York, January 16, 2025 – Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices throughout New York, is pleased to announce that four law clerks have been promoted to associate: Sophia M. Adams, Ashley C. Freeman, Aaron L. Mackay, and William C. Stone.
Adams is a member of the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice group. Prior to joining Harter Secrest & Emery as a law clerk, Adams was a summer associate with the firm and conducted research on a range of legal issues. During law school, she served as an extern for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and an intern for the Legal Aid Society of Rochester. Adams earned a B.A. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law.
Freeman is a member of the firm’s Trusts and Estates practice group. Prior to joining Harter Secrest & Emery as a law clerk, she was a summer associate with the firm and supported attorneys across a variety of practice groups. She also served as a Student Attorney for the Family Violence and Women’s Rights Clinic at UB Law. Freeman earned a B.A. from SUNY Fredonia and a J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law, cum laude.
Mackay is a member of the firm’s Real Estate practice group. Before joining Harter Secrest & Emery as a law clerk, he worked as a summer associate with the firm where he supported attorneys across various practice groups. He also served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Mary Ellen Diekhoff of the Monroe County Circuit Court V. Mackay earned his B.A. from the State University of New York at Geneseo, summa cum laude, and a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, magna cum laude.
Stone is a member of the firm’s Litigation practice. Prior to joining Harter Secrest & Emery, he was a judicial intern for the Honorable Marian W. Payson of the United States District Court, Western District of New York. During law school, he worked at the Farmworker’s Legal Assistance Clinic and the Labor Law Clinic. Stone earned his B.A. from The University of Chicago, cum laude, and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
