John G. Horn

Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices throughout New York, is pleased to announce that John G. Horn has been elected vice president of the Minority Bar Foundation.

Established in 2004, the Minority Bar Foundation is dedicated to promoting education and scholarship within the legal field. Their mission is to fortify minority representation in the legal profession by empowering upcoming leaders to play a pivotal role in shaping the justice system. By offering professional guidance, educational programs, and financial assistance through grants, the Minority Bar Foundation assists students from their college years through law school, nurturing their path to becoming impactful contributors within the legal community. Horn has served on the Board of Directors since 2020.

A partner in Harter Secrest & Emery’s Litigation practice for more than two decades, Horn has litigated complex business, construction, Native American law, and environmental disputes in state, federal, appellate, and tribal courts, as well as in mediation and arbitration. He has been selected as a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America-Trial Lawyer Honorary Society. Horn is recognized by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America®, and Super Lawyers and is the recipient of the 2020 Community Leader Legal Award from the National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York.

In addition, Horn chairs the firm’s Inclusion and Equity Committee.  The Committee fulfills its mission by actively recruiting professionals with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and insights, fostering a workplace environment based on respect for individual experiences, and contributing to diversity and inclusion discussions in the community. This is achieved through supporting and encouraging staff to take leadership roles in diversity-focused organizations and supporting relevant programs and events within the firm and community.

Horn earned a B.A. from the University of Rochester, an M.A. from Northwestern University, and a J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
