Joseph G. Casion Elected Chairperson of Friendly Home Board of Directors

Harter Secrest & Emery LLP (HSE), a full-service business law firm with operations throughout New York, is pleased to announce that partner Joseph G. Casion has been elected chairperson of the Friendly Home board of directors.

Part of the Friendly Senior Living continuum of caring communities, the Friendly Home is a skilled nursing home in Brighton, offering 24-hour care, rehabilitation, memory care and hospice care. Originally established in 1849 to help shelter homeless women, the Friendly Home has always been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those it serves.

A corporate attorney and practice leader for Harter Secrest & Emery’s Not-for-Profit Organizations practice group, Casion provides corporate counsel to both not-for-profit organizations and for-profit business. His work with and deep understanding of not-for-profit organizations includes advising clients on the facilitation of consolidations, mergers, and acquisitions between organizations, attaining tax-exempt status and compliance with associated federal and state requirements. In addition, Casion works with for-profit businesses on formation, transactions, joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions, and managing the sale and acquisition of privately-held companies valued at more than $50 million.

Casion was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the field of Closely Held Companies and Family Business Law. He was also selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers® from 2013-2014, and is a past recipient of the Forty Under 40 award from the Rochester Business Journal, in recognition of his professional achievement and community involvement.

In addition to his role with the Friendly Home, Casion serves as chair of the United Way of Greater Rochester Community Investment Executive Team. He is actively involved with numerous charitable and non-profit organizations, including the Grantmakers Forum of New York, Monroe County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Foodlink, and Al Sigl Foundation.
