Leslie M. Mauro Elected Vice President of ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes Board

Harter Secrest & Emery LLP, a full-service business law firm with operations throughout New York, is pleased to announce that partner Leslie M. Mauro has been elected vice president of The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes board of directors for a one-year term. Mauro is partner in charge of Harter Secrest & Emery’s Corning office and focuses her practice on environmental compliance, litigation, land use and zoning, and energy law.

The ARTS Council is a multi-county arts organization that works to enhance quality of life in the communities it serves through the direct and indirect support of the arts. The organization grants state and local funds to artists, arts and cultural organizations, and schools to help increase arts programming and opportunities for the public regionally and statewide. In addition, The ARTS Council is committed to increasing public awareness of and access to the diverse folk arts traditions of the Southern Tier, advocating for arts education, and increasing the awareness of the important economic role the arts play in the Southern Tier and beyond.

As the board’s vice president, Mauro, who is currently in her second year as a board member, will serve on the Executive Committee, and will fill in for the board president as needed. She also currently serves as the co-chair of the organization’s Fund Development Committee. Mauro will be officially presented in her new role at The ARTS Council’s annual meeting on April 21.

“Leslie has been a terrific support to The ARTS Council and has already helped us make important decisions that will shape the council’s future,” said Connie Sullivan-Blum, executive director of The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.

The practice group leader for Harter Secrest & Emery’s Environmental, Land Use & Zoning practice group, Mauro was named the Best Lawyers® 2015 Land Use and Zoning Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Rochester, and was selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of Environmental Law, Land Use & Zoning Law, and Land Use & Zoning Law Litigation. She has also been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers® from 2013-2015.

In addition to her role with The ARTS Council, Mauro serves as chairperson of the Trillium Health board of directors, sits on the board of directors of Three Rivers Development Corporation, and is an active member of the Women Presidents’ Organization and the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce.
