Rick practiced with Harter Secrest & Emery for more than 37 years, two years of which (2020-2022) were spent serving as the firm’s General Counsel.

Rick was a general litigator whose practice emphasized appeals, products liability, professional and medical malpractice defense, and commercial litigation including trust and estates and fiduciaries. He has extensive trial experience and represented the interests of many foreign designers and manufacturers around the country, having handled cases in more than 20 states and having served as National Trial Counsel to a Fortune 500 company that designed and manufactured sophisticated medical devices. A former appellate clerk, Rick successfully handled dozens of appeals in state and federal courts, winning appeals in all four New York Appellate Divisions as well as the New York Court of Appeals.
