Anna S. M. McCarthy Appointed to Eighth Judicial District Attorney Grievance Committee

McCarthy, an associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice, has been appointed to serve on the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Eighth Judicial District of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department. The Attorney Grievance Committees are authorized to investigate, review, and prosecute complaints of attorney misconduct within the Fourth Judicial Department. This agency has jurisdiction over approximately 14,588 lawyers within a 22-county geographic area, with three district offices, located in Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. The Eighth Judicial District represents Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties.

McCarthy represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including the development of employee policies, union relations, wage and hour issues, discipline and termination decisions, employee leave, discrimination and harassment claims, and employment contract disputes. She also assists in ensuring compliance with employment-related federal and state regulations.

In addition to her work in labor and employment law, McCarthy counsels clients from many industries on best practices for maintaining compliance with federal and state cybersecurity regulations, including breach preparation, privacy notifications, and security of information systems.

McCarthy received her J.D., cum laude, from the University at Buffalo School of Law and her B.A. from Wellesley College.
