Certification Brings the Firm’s Total Number of Individual Privacy and Data Security Credentials to Eight

Mason, an associate in the firm’s Litigation practice, has earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional/US (CIPP/US) designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
A CIPP certification is the global industry standard for professionals entering and working in the field of privacy. Backed by ANAB-accreditation, achieving a CIPP/US credential demonstrates understanding of a principles-based framework and knowledge base in information privacy within the U.S. context. The IAPP is the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community and resource. Founded in 2000, the IAPP is a not-for-profit organization that helps define, promote, and improve the privacy profession globally.
Mason is an associate in the firm’s Litigation practice group with a concentration in Privacy and Data Security Law and a background in national security and counter-terrorism studies. As a member of the Privacy and Data Security team, Mason counsels clients concerning compliance with evolving state and federal privacy and data protection laws, diligence for mergers and acquisitions related to data security and privacy risks, identification and assessment of relevant threats to information security, best practices to avoid a data breach, and post-incident response.
Mason received a J.D. and a Certificate of Advanced Study in National Security and Counter-terrorism Law from Syracuse University College of Law, a M.P.A. from Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, and a B.A. from Colgate University.
